Software, both free and licensed, is available from several sources here at the University. Please review the following sources below when looking for software programs for your computer.

Information Technology Services (ITS)

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Penn State provides faculty, staff and students with access to free software downloads via their ITS Downloads site. Software available from this site includes office productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, virus detection and scanning software such as Symantec AntiVirus, web browsers and more. The site also features some materials-related applications such as Avizo and Materials Studio.

Penn State Computer Store

The Software at Penn State offers large discounts on popular licensed software titles for Penn State faculty, staff and students. All members of the Penn State community should check here before buying software elsewhere. Software that is labelled "Department Purchase Only" can only be purchased with a Penn State Purchasing Card (P-Card) or through eBuy.

Departmental Software

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering has purchased departmental licenses for popular materials-related software programs, including:
